I was so wrong but also so right

I am so annoyed......I love thrillers and I love a good twist......but this made NO SENSE! For everyone that gave this book 4 or 5 stars and said the twist was epic.....do you know how a twist is supposed to work? It's supposed to make sense first of all. So for the first 80% of the book, the main character in the present timeline, Tricia, has NO CLUE whats actually happening. She is brought to look at a house by her husband which was set up by her real estate agent.....she is astounded at just how beautiful the house is like she's never seen it before. They get trapped there by a snow storm, she is exploring the house and scared about the house and confused as to who lived there, even sees a portrait of the previous owner on the wall and has no clue who it is. Is shocked absolutely shocked about everything that happens and that she discovers in this house...until the end when we find out she is the one who set it all up!!!! It makes no sense! Had the reader not been in her head the whole time, maayyyyybe this twist would have worked.....but since we were in her head, I don't understand how it works at all. It's not a twist, it's bad story telling.

I give it a two only because I did enjoy it for the first 80% of the book and liked the change of perspective between chapters. I listened to this one and enjoyed the narrator as well.

Okay, wow. Never Lie by Freida McFadden seriously hooked me from page one—I was only like 10% in and my heart was already racing. I ended up staying up way too late because I just had to know what was going to happen. I loved the multiple POVs/timelines (always makes a story feel more layered), and the cassette tape transcripts were such a cool, creepy touch that really added to the vibes. The atmosphere was perfectly unsettling—every single character felt suspicious at some point, and I legit didn’t trust anyone. The title fits the story so well too. That being said… Ethan was not it. He was unlikable, super naive, and honestly just kind of oblivious to everything happening around him. It got annoying after a while. There were also moments where the story felt a little repetitive, but the wild twists totally made up for it. I did not see that ending coming at all. Overall, such a fun, bingeable thriller with creepy vibes, plenty of gasp-worthy twists, and a solid mystery. Definitely recommend if you like fast-paced thrillers that keep you guessing.

I read this book in one day, (listened to on audible)- I couldn't stop. It was fast and interesting and I just wanted to know who did what.

The twist was unexpected and the ending and epilogue made me want to throw up.

Fun, but predictable.

Did I see most of it coming? Yes.
But I had so much fun it doesn’t even really matter

Typical Freida book. A super repetitive, quick and easy read with a great twist at the end.
