I love that spy romances are becoming popular. They're so much fun and make my heart so happy.

However, I will say that if you read The Blonde Identity by Ally Carter... there's really no reason to read this one. They are basically the same book, but The Blonde Identity is better. This one is fun and cute but I kept comparing it to The Blonde Identity because it is the same exact plot.

Dove is the FMC in The Spy and I and she is basically Penelope from Criminal Minds. She is an awkward, yet smart computer/tech person who gets involved in the CIA. She was a fun FMC and I always love spy romances with a civilian who gets caught in all these spy issues ends up with an actual spy.

The only issue was that Mendez was such a bland MMC. I didn't feel any of the tension or chemistry of a romance between the two of them. I didn't believe they actually loved each other because the romance plotline was such an annoying will they or won't they moment. There wasn't enough romance for this to be considered a romance book.

The Spy and I is a fun book, but not a fun romance.
