8/10. Pretty gay. I know the story of Achilles pretty well which made all of the foreshadowing lines very nice. I didn't know how involved Thetis was in the story. I liked how Achilles, who could be easily seen as arrogant and haughty, was portrayed as a rounded person from Patroclus' point of view. Overall, I liked it but I wouldn't say it's an instant favorite.

I CRIED. SO HARD. IN THE LAST THREE CHAPTERS.
what his mother did in the final chapter for Patroclus killed me
when in the close they mention throwing figs between Achilles and Patroclus? Weeping. So beautifully written the whole way through. Really felt like I was there on the Greek isles too. Briesies is underrated.

Absolutely stunning book. I cannot put into words how gorgeous Madeline Miller's writing is, or how beautiful and tragic the romance between Achilles and Patroclus is. The Song of Achilles is heart wrenching and heartbreaking, and everyone should go read it immediately. <333

This novel 100% lives up to the hype. The pacing is perfect, the prose is beautiful, and the characters are extremely compelling. Patroclus is an excellent narrator and the love story between him and Achilles is simply beautiful. Both characters are equally compelling. In fact, Miller is able to make all of the mythic figures featured in this novel not only accessible but feel so utterly human. The pacing is perfect and Miller's prose is utterly stunning and downright addictive.  If you've been meaning to read this one and haven't yet, do yourself a favor and read it.
