I bought the book because the plot sounded vaguely interesting and the Kindle edition was 99 cents. I didn’t overpay. I’ll admit to enjoying parts, particularly toward the end when the UST was reaching its peak. But Lee’s “letter to Desmond” was just bizarre. I think she’d have been better to leave it at Les starting to take off from the palace roof and leave her cliffhanger there.

If this manuscript was edited by paid editors, the publishing company needs to fire their contractors. Awful, stiffly constructed sentences that the editors should have caught and suggested changes.

Something Different

This story line is very different from anything I have read before. It has intrigued me and I am anxious to see what happens next.

From the first chapter this book had me hooked. Good character & plot development. Good pace to the story as well. Away to start the 2nd book in series now.

Good book with interesting characters!

This book was a lovely puzzle for the first 2/3 or 3/4 and I was greatly enjoying seeing Violet's journey, then it suddenly took a turn. the new, faster pace jarred at first, and I'm not fond of romance, but by the end I was intrigued for the next book. Would have been 4*s if it weren't for that blip. Enjoyable read!

This book was suggested to me on Goodreads since I liked The Hunger Games. From the title, you would think it was similar, but it isn't really. It is a dystopian novel (see what I mean about relevancy?), but it feels really current. Society is separated into two parts: a Matriarchal society founded on peace, and a Patriarchal society, who has a violence-obsessed ruler.

It is very clear that both societies have flaws, and the main character Violet has lots of flaws too. I can't wait to continue her story with the next book in this series.

It was ok, not the most horrible book I've finished. It was slow and there were many parts where I had to go back because I found myself not paying attention. After reading the reviews on the next books in the series I have opted to not go any further with this series.

I wish I could give it zero stars because it doesn’t deserve a star at all.

It’s terrible. I’m just glad I got it via my Kindle Unlimited trial phase for free.

I didn't expect to like this somehow? The title threw me off big time. It did a disservice to the book itself. Anyway, I did like it! And I'm excited to continue with the series and find out what in the world is happening. Violet's pretty cool, and so is Viggo. (P.S. I hope Tim is alive)

Good!

This book reels you in slowly but keeps you entranced until the end. I am excited to start the second book in the series!
