Such a dark disturbing book. A few parts a skipped past due to the details of harm written about. I wasn’t expecting any of the plots twists (but also was just going with the flow with 0 expectations with this book).

The story was so slow in the first 2/3 of the book that I almost dnf'd it several times. But there was so much hype about it on BookTok, that I felt like I had to stick it out to figure out what all the fuss was about.

The pace picked up for the last 1/3, but I just felt like the "twists" were super predictable.

I cared more about the story of the Carrol family way more than the mystery pieces at play.

This us only my second Karin Slaughter book. I liked Girl, Forgotten way more.

So dark. Check trigger warnings. There’s some really graphic nightmare causing stuff in here.

This book was too dark with the sexual assault parts. But it was a very well done thriller book. Very well written.

Really only taking away a star due to a the sometimes graphic SA/gore which was difficult to read. Otherwise, I really enjoyed this book! There were moments that made me gasp out loud and I was on the edge of my seat.
