weird pacing and flimsy worldbuilding bring down what is otherwise an incredibly evocative and heartbreaking story. i liked it but i cant say i enjoyed reading it. the tension in my chest at the end was nauseating.

 I liked the setting of the story, it was a bit Margret Atwood meets Jeff Vandermeer. I just didn't enjoy the main character. The story is set entirely within her thoughts and it seemed she behaved and thought very strangely.
I think this story was just not for me personally.
