Overall I thought this was just so cute & beautiful, even if it veers into manic pixie dream girl at times. I understand that there are things in here that others might not like, such as the fantastic elements or the meandering conversations, but I thought this was very interesting (MOST times... sometimes my eye would glaze over). I love things that are sweet and relatable and haunting and gay and about friendship… and this book was all of it :)

i liked how murakami portrayed loneliness and the feelings of longing for another person but other than that the last 1/3 of the book was a battle for me to get through bc it was pretty boring
i will never again read a book by murakami simply bc he never writes his female characters like they r actual human beings and they r just there to satisfy the male gaze ITS SICK
