I think all the hype I continually heard made it hard for the book to live up to my expectations.
I really wanted to enjoy this book more than I did. Being a fan of all things Downton Abbey-esque I thought this book would be right up my alley. While it was an enjoyable Regency fic. I felt that it was a bit to predictable. Her personal relationships, return of long lost relations, everything happened a bit to nicely/right when you expected it.

Delightful, lovely historical romance. Fizzy and lighthearted and deeply romantic. Loved this so much.
Totally fluffy Regency romance (which I generally don't read), and I loved every minute. Full review here: http://www.everyday-reading.com/2013/10/edenbrooke-by-julianne-donaldson.html
I read this for one of the book clubs that I am in. This was incredibly predictable and her naïveté a little hard to handle at times, but there were moments in the book where I laughed out loud! It was charming, very Jane Austen-esque, and is extremely clean. There's a mildly suggestive moment, but it is frowned upon by the main character. The truth is, it was a fun quick read.
What can I say that hasn't been said already?
If I had to pick a book that reminds me of Jane Austen, it would have to be Edenbrooke. That's the highest compliment from an Austen girl, in my opinion. Love, love, LOVE!

I really enjoyed this book, especially since I was in the mood for a lighthearted romance novel. If you love authors like Jane Austen and Georgette Heyer (as I do), you'll like this book.
Another fun, Regency-era, romantic indulgence from Donaldson! I flew through the pages of this one, and couldn't stop my cheesy happy grinning as I read the end, even if I could see it coming from page 15. I had to knock the book down one star simply because our heroine could possibly be one of the most clueless characters I've ever met in literature, but still, for this fan of the Austenesque, the book was a pleasure to spend some time with.
