MY FAVORITE PIECE OF FICTION!!!!
This author does a brilliant job at balancing complex ideas into an engaging storyline. At adding literary elements such as foreshadow and irony yet making the book thrilling to read.
Would definitely recommend this to readers who want a book that makes them think deeply but doesn’t make them fall asleep at the same time.

An enjoyable read. Laid bare, the narrative is very simple, but the joy of the book is in the characters and action throughout the novel, which felt almost cinematic.
Things I like:
- How all the characters were just referred to by a nickname, which felt reminiscent of Quentin Tarantino but also Stephen Chow. The reveal that the assassins were the trolley lady and/or the conductor, for example, were great.
- This is very much in the black comedy genre, where people die in perplexing, awkward ways.
- I liked that the know-it-all psychopath character, who was set up so well throughout the novel as a real pompous shit, got it coming to him in a particularly cruel way. I cannot improve on the refutation of his amateur philosophy than what was in the novel.
- The modulation of Nanao's character from 'this guy is really unlucky' to 'wait this guy is both really unlucky and really luck' is skillfully done. A bit reminiscent of King from One Punch Man.
- Although she didn't really appear much, I'm very interested in Nanao and Maria; I wonder if they will appear again.
- The ex-deus machina of Kimura's parents being legendary assassins was absurd yes, but in a pretty predictable but still funny sort of way. It was fun looking back to all the foreshadowing.
Things that were a bit meh:
- Kimura did not get much of a resolution, and probably the weakest character in the book. His relationship with alcoholism is mentioned often but I did not find it as insightful as the handling of other themes.

3.5 stars. Fast paced fun weird silly creepy action filled. Reminded me of the film The Good The Bad and The Weird. Wish the Maria character’s journey made a bit more sense but overall enjoyed

It's been a while since I read a fiction book that I made enough of an impression on me to appear in my dreams, as if to say, "keep reading me, it's getting good!".
I thoroughly enjoyed the ride (pun intended). The author has good prose and I was able to easily picture the characters and the events folding out in my head. I found myself rooting for certain characters despite their crooked nature and absolutely despising a certain young psychopath. I was satisfied with the ending.
Books like these are what keep me reading fiction.
