I saw the trailer for the film and was pretty excited to see it. Then last week I saw this book on audible. I didn't even know the film was an adaptation. I bought it right away and started listening, getting hooked pretty quickly on the wide cast of unique characters and dark humor in the novel.
I had only a few critiques. First, some of the flashbacks, especially with the Prince, tended to be a little long and bog down the pace of the story a bit. Second, some of the scenes were hard to visualize, like when two characters are throwing hands in a crowded train car and no one is noticing. Finally, I supposed the ending was a bit muted compared to what I was expecting.

One of the few times I think a movie outshines the book. The Prince may be single-handily the most annoying, obnoxious character I’ve ever read and i wish we got to see him tortured. Otherwise, yeah it’s okay.
