Not gonna lie, I’m worried that Callum is not going to stay the main love interest because he’s blonde 😬 IYKYK. Lol. He deserves to though, because SWOON. But also, I’m intrigued by Blake. And I’m enjoying Aurora’s character growth. Definitely suspected the twist at the end and I’m eager to see how it all plays out. On to Book 2!

Rory…. Homegirl…. PLEASE for the love of God you better choose Blake in the next book. Otherwise you get even less ⭐️ because Callum is just stupid.
I really did kind of want more from this book. Felt kind of basic and honestly Blake is the only character I’m rooting for right now.

I’ve always had a soft spot for werewolf stories (and no, it’s not because of Twilight), so I was intrigued to dive into The Wolf King. Overall, this was a light and entertaining read—perfect for when you’re in the mood for something easy and quick to get through (took me about 6 hours to finish). While the plot wasn’t the most original and leaned towards being fairly predictable, it did have its refreshing moments.

One aspect I liked was the first MMC, who, thankfully, didn’t come with the typical brooding "I-want-to-kill-you" energy that tends to dominate the romantasy genre. His banter with Aurora is sweet and delightful and always brought a smile to my face. But then Blake entered the picture. As the second MMC, he brought some of that broodiness, and while he seems to be shaping up to be a second love interest, I’m still unsure how I feel about that dynamic. Nor can I guess at his endgame with Aurora. 🧐 The unexpected Scottish inspiration for the wolves, complete with kilts, was also a delightful twist. It added a bit of charm and novelty to the story.

As for the writing, it wasn’t spectacular. I read the ebook version, and it was riddled with editing and spelling errors, which pulled me out of the story at times. That said, the prose was straightforward and easy to follow, so for $1.49, I can’t say I regret the purchase.

If you’re in the mood for a quick werewolf romance with a few unique touches, The Wolf King might be worth picking up—just don’t go in expecting perfection.

Where did this book come from? Why is no one talking about it? And when does the next one come out?

This book is better then it has any right to be. It is everything a good romantasy should be and I can’t wait to see how the world expands in the next one (there better be a next one). Is this anything ground breaking or original? No, but it does everything in the genre right. You want a tough Scotsman rescuing a Princess, check. Devious possible secondary love interest, check. Oh and the set up for the enemies to lovers is, masterclass. Do you with the blonde love interest wasn’t such a self righteous little bitch, I give you Cullum. Do you want a shadow daddy who is actually clever and devious and truely morally gray, I give Blake. Evil King, we got two of them. Legitimately don’t know who she’ll choose, or if she‘ll choose, and  I’ve never been more excited about it. And Rory, is stronger the she initially appears and her character development from passive princess to confident woman is well done. My only qualm is this is incredibly predictable if you’ve read enough fantasy but I don’t think that’s a bad thing, troupes exist for a reason and if it works it works.

Warning for those thinking this is a stand alone, it does end on a bit of a cliff hanger; but more of a set up to the main conflict, then omg it can’t end there type.

🌶️🌶️🌶️.5/5 Open doors but not overly explicit or plentiful. Easy to skip if you don’t like spice but pretty well done for those that do.

It you love a fun, whimsical story that’s honestly really well written I would 100% recommend The Wolf King. Loved all the foreshadowing and plot setups throughout the book, no reveal felt overly jarring or out of nowhere. A throughly enjoyable read.
