I need to go through this book and find all the allusions, sometimes I would be pointing at the page like ! Nabokov mentioning himself! And of course the allusion in Pale Fire to this one. I enjoyed it immensely even if I thought it has a little less literary merit than his other English-language novels. Not by much, but it's probably my least favorite out of the Lolita - Pale Fire - Pnin group.

After a bit of a lull with Nabokov (Laughter in the Darkness, really), I'm back to absolutly loving him.

Pirmąkart skaitau Nabokovą ir tas pirmas įspūdis labai geras. Knygoje pasakojama apie Pniną, kuris pateikiamas kaip vos ne koks ponas Bynas, nors iš tiesų yra išeivis intelektualas, vis bandantis pritapti svetimoje vietoje ir kultūroje, kur tiesiog aplinkiniams atrodo labai keistas. Labai graži kalba, visas pateikimas, o istorija persmelkta humoru, nors ir turi itin liūdnų poteksčių.
Kažkiek pradžioje sunkoka skaityti dėl būtent tos gražios kalbos ir pateikimo, bet greitai pripratama ir net nesinori baigti.

This is less of an “incredible story” as it is an incredible voice. Every page includes a turn of phrase or observation of description that blows my mind. Enjoyable, to say the least.
