I did enjoy the start of the story. However, the alternating chapters in different timelines threw me off. It was an interesting whodunit, albeit a bit predictable. Perhaps I was not the right demographic for this one.

4.5 stars ⭐️ I really enjoyed this one. I only knocked .5 stars off because although I liked it it didn’t hold me attention to the point where I had to keep reading. I also figured out the ending about halfway through. Still a fantastic book and would definitely recommend.

Woowee. In a weird way, this was a really tough one to get through. Brought up a ton surrounding vulnerability in adolescence, what good love looks like (but more of what it never should look like). LOTS of sub-themes and topics surrounding familial relationships, domestic violence, anger and aggression and how unconditional (or conditional) love really is.
I loved it. From start to finish it was intense and binge-worthy. Towards the end I did find myself more speed reading Lily’s chapter bc Asher’s story and Olivia’s take became such a large focus. I also wonder if having them in a different order would have been more cohesive to her story.

Graphic: Self harm, Transphobia, Murder, Toxic friendship, Violence, Toxic relationship, and Suicide attempt

Wow, once you get into this one there’s a lot to unpack!
It is a little slow going but once you get into it, it’s all consuming. A heavy read with a powerful plot, diverse/inclusive characters and a story line that will keep you on your toes. A multi genre book that you will not forget.
The book starts with the day of Lily’s death and how Asher has been accused with murder. With every chapter it alternates from past to present, gaining insight, information and how Lily and Olivia came to New Hampshire to seek refuge. These parts of the story could both help or hinder with Asher’s innocence. When it’s all laid out on the table it’s up to a jury yo decide whether Asher is a violent man, capable of injuring the girl he loved or was their something in Lily’s past that could have caused an accident this severe.
