The plot of the book is amazing, and it has several plot twists, and you're always rooting for the friends to make it out.
In this sequel to Masterminds, Eli, Malik, Tori, and Amber are on the run for their lives. They have figured out the secret of their birth and escaped from the small town they grew up in. Now they face the challenge of where to go and how to bring their "parents" to justice. Chased by the "Purples," they must think on their feet in this action-packed adventure. Car chases, helicopter chases, and death-defying escapes are liberally sprinkled throughout and will keep readers on the edge of their seats. Warning: the cliff-hanger ending will make you wish book three was coming out soon!

This one's my least favorite in the series, but it's still pretty good - Gordon Korman is hilarious and these characters are great. I laughed out loud several times like:
"There's a lot of discussion about a person called the Bachelor. I think he might be in the government. Also Starbucks - that's a restaurant in Pueblo. It must be super fancy because all the things you can order have these long foreign names."
These characters are priceless - also the concept is great and so is the plot! I can't wait to read the last one, which is my favorite by far!

My younger sister said she liked this trilogy so I told her I’d read it. This is book 2/3
I liked this one more than the first one. The first one was them figuring out everything, and this one’s where they actually start really doing stuff about it. It was much more action packed and I loved following the kids all over these places and seeing them get into all these crazy situations and somehow getting out of them. Was a lot of it unrealistic, yeah, but it’s a middle grade what do you expect. It was just a fun read and I read it in 3 days which is very quick for me (even if this is a middle grade and the font is huge, I’m still a VERY slow reader so 3 days for a book is quick).
One thing about the series so far is I find the multiple perspectives pointless sometimes and would just confuse me at times. The kids are mostly together but I just remember multiple times I would be reading someone’s chapter thinking it was someone else’s and be like “wait who’s pov am I reading from again?”
The ending, the action honestly didn’t make any sense (I had that issue with the last book too) like I don’t understand how they ended up in a river ?? didn’t make sense to me. Even the reveal about Hector was a little confusing.
I do think it’s gonna be interesting and something different in the next book since they’re now split up now so the multiple povs will be a little more useful.
