A very good read. Such an engaging and creative book. Very descriptive which captivated my imagination.

This has been one of my favourite books for ages, with a nice, rolling story and, well, it's very good comfort reading. Also there is some excellent dry humour, especially concerning Wiggins. However, there are several annoyances.

- There is far to much religious stuff for my liking

- This means that Maria is constantly admonished for being too curious. I mean, I love her as a main character, and she's one of my favourite main characters in books, but she'd be way better if she was more feminist and wasn't chastened by "vanity is of the devil, and excessive female curiosity is not to be commended either. Nip it in the bud, dear, while there's still time" Curiosity makes life way more interesting! We wouldn't have space travel or anything if someone hadn't been curious about what was out there!

- The animals are by far the coolest characters (although, that is acknowledged in the book) and most of the humans are simple and not developed enough; too one-sided (possibly with the exception of Marmaduke Scarlet. I like Marmaduke Scarlet.) All the characters get married. (again, Marmaduke is the exception).
Maria is married one year after the book! That means she'll be FIFTEEN! And also, Robin is her second cousin

Well I guess Elizabeth Goudge (author) made a good decision to set this book in 1842, about 100 years before she wrote it. Most of the bad things in the book are excused by that.

But if you ignore/put up with these grievances, it is a lovely read and good book.

Oh, and the food descriptions are wonderful.

For the first, I actually like the film more than the book who base off.

I think it's cause for it was too slow and the dialogue between the character was not too realistic. It was all the same

Maria saw Robin (her imaginary friend) and she also sees him in front of her face. He's real. Yeah I get it.

Maria come to Moonacre

She discovers she is the lost moon princess and it really shows in so many waves she is the princess. How the animals always are calm when she arrived at the wood and how the housekeeps treat her.

It was not the best book I read in 2020, but I like the atmosphere, and it the only wave I gove it 2 stars.

DID NOT FINISH

'A Princess called to rule a kingdom must know it through and through, if she is to reign worthily. And how can she know it, if she is not given the freedom of it?'

I truly enjoyed this sweet middle-grade fantasy book that I probably never would have picked up if we hadn't discussed it in my book club. While I didn't find the main character to be especially likeable or fascinating, the minor characters are delightful and make it worth the read.

Love this book, it is such a sweet story.

Not even 300 pages and it took me almost a month to read...... The joined dilemma of a very detailed classic mixed with the fact that I had to stop reading it for like 3 weeks to read other books....But I really enjoyed it! I really wanna watch the movie now....I missed all of these characters...XD

Read in Southeastern England in an old house. Perfect atmosphere.
