Whenever I pick one of these books up, I end up reminded just how good nightvale could be. For a podcast produced as it went it often manages to be creepy, funny, and deeply insightful. One of my favourite nightvale quotes can be found in this particular book which is to the effect of "Don't be defined by the way you may die but the way you may life."

THE SEASON FINALE OF THIS
I am so glad that they decided to go more towards a consistent story throughout the year, it really benefits the listening/reading experience.
I am so emotionally attached to every character in this and I will never get over how comforting this podcast is to me. It's the acceptance of the weird and unknown, it helps my anxiety so much.

I love Night Vale with my whole heart and this year (year two) is most of the reason why.

All of this podcast's episodes are good (and scary, and unsettling, and lovely, and friendly) but when I think of the episodes that have legitimately made me Feel Feelings, there are a few that are indelibly seared into my mind:
-The episode with the numbers station, which was mysterious and then kind of funny and then endearing and pulled a reversal at the end that utterly crushed my heart.
-"A Stranger", the first half of which is the show at its very cutest and the second half of which made me weep, alone, in front of the computer, and then go home and hug my cat.
-The ending of "Renovations", which, coming as it does after a few episodes' worth of smiling, creeping horror, builds and builds until a single line that filled me with ecstatic, fist-pumping joy.

I did not even remember that all of these episodes occurred in Year Two until I started reading this collection. The main arc of the season is a stunning take on individualism and corporate greed that makes me want to go outside and break something. Some of the standalone episodes (in addition to "Numbers", "A Beautiful Dream" also comes to mind) are that pitch perfect marriage of weird, surreal, and profound that Night Vale has essentially patented. And these stories lost nothing in repetition - reading the scripts made me feel everything all over again. I felt every thing.

This show is an honest to God masterpiece and this set of stories is its very best. I want to buy a thousand copies of this and stuff them through people's mail slots.

Corrupting The Youth as I play night vale episodes from my phone's speaker as I walk my dog around the neighborhood.
