This book series, particularly the first two, have been hanging around the back of my mind for a few years now because I had forgotten sooooo many of the details and couldn't remember enough to recall what the series was. But now they've been found again, and I HAD to start rereading them! There is definitely some outdated stuff, and it's not as if the book is some kind of literary masterpiece, but I totally enjoyed getting to visit the story and Anastasia's mind again! She is snarky, funny, and was immensely relatable to young me, and for that alone I loved this.

This is the sweetest of the Anastasia books, but it's still funny. I'm rereading this series and I've realized they're total comfort reading for me.

After reading [b:The Giver|3636|The Giver|Lois Lowry|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1342493368s/3636.jpg|2543234] and learning more about why it is frequently banned/challenged, I discovered that a series by the author that I read as a kid was also frequently banned/challenged and decided I needed to re-read it! While the story wasn't as familiar as other childhood faves I've re-read as an adult, I enjoyed getting reacquainted with Anastasia Krupnik and her notebooks filled with lists of positives and negatives. The first book in the series was a fun, fast read.

My favorite series as a young girl. I loved Anastasia and read the entire series as I got older.
I loved sharing these with my girls too!

Anastasia is smart, spunky and self-absorbed--just like any good 10-year-old should be. She is never far from her green notebook that she uses to record her secret thoughts, favorite words and loves and hates. Things aren't going so great, though: her parents have the nerve to have a baby (at THEIR age!), her grandmother unnerves her, she hates her teacher for reasons she can't figure out, and she's hopelessly in love. It sure isn't going to be an easy year.

Absolutely hilarious. Lowry made me laugh-out-loud with Anastasia and she reminded me a lot of myself at that age. Great book.

We tried this one because Eleanor had enjoyed the Sam books so much. It's not really appropriate for a six year old. She still enjoyed parts of it, but a lot was about boys and such.

I remember LOVING this series as a kid, but it’s even more hilarious and poignant as an adult! I may have to read them all again!
