Great book. A storyline that I haven’t read before, pregnancy trope used right, and tied in super well with previous books
Wow! I think this may have been my favorite of the series so far and I have loved them all!

°˖➴ nera; she’s fierce and loyal. she’s determined, courageous and unwilling to collapse even under unbearable pressure but her strength felt undermined by how much she still revolved emotionally around kai.
°˖➴ kai; a quintessential emotional fortress — deadpan, lethal and unfeeling. his cold, emotionless assassin persona could’ve worked but his emotional growth felt shallow.
ᢉ𐭩 they relied too much on ‘unspoken bond’ without doing enough work in the present to rebuild it. i wanted more tension and conversations but it was a lot of internal angst and vague longing.
ᝰ. it tried to juggle a lot; mafia politics, cartel wars, secrets and power shifts but it dragged. the flashbacks slowed the momentum and the climax felt too convenient.
