This was one of the best Mafia books I’ve ever read! The story had the perfect mix of angst, action, and dark romance, with Kai and Nera’s relationship pulling me in from the start. THE YEARNING IS NEXT LEVEL IN THIS BOOK. Kai’s obsessive devotion (like remembering her allergies and buying her tulips without stamens, so cute! and buying her parsnip leaves because he didn’t know what parsley looked like, ugh!) made me love him, and the twists kept me hooked, from Nera taking over the Boston Cosa Nostra to Kai’s disappearance and years of torture. The humor balanced the intensity so well. Kai, Sergei, and Az’s dynamic was hilarious, and the chaotic priest/wedding hijackings were chef’s kiss by Sergei.

This book has been one of the top ones for me. Kai is a hitman who felt in love with this girl after telling her to end his life. In the end she helped him and something happened that night. He is one hell of a stalker and kills everyone who pose as a threat to her and their baby girl. Nera is a badass and even if she got help from her brother her being the don was such a nice thing to see since woman are seen as object in the mafia world.
