It was so well written. Kai was perfectly sculptured as a morally grey character. He only liked her and only let her in. That was too perfect. The emotions were amazingly captured for a person who is a ruthless killing machine and softie for his wife and daughter.
Too much push and pull but I understand a need of that. Overall a great read and absolutely cured my glooms.

I love this series. I don't know if she has an end point in mind, but I hope she keeps writing in this world.
This was a great set up, going across a number of years. This was a bit of a slow burn, for them to finally sleep together but it was a great build up.
I also enjoyed the fmc shift from the past to present section, it wasn't jarring skipping forward a few years, but was required for character/plot development.
I loved the other characters making a reappearance from previous books.
Massimo and Zaras story was set up nicely for the next in the series.
Also intrigued by the scarred hitman who I think is getting his own book at some point.
Can be read as a standalone, but highly recommended starting at the beginning of the series
