This book is a rollicking adventure all action packed start to finish. I liked it!

A pretty ok read and I'd give it a 3,5/5. The story is somewhat simple but enjoyable if you don't expect massive plot twists.

One thing that's a bit overdone is that about 80% of all characters in the book identify as female and about 90%+ of those are either lesbian or bi. Not a problem though, it's just very noticable.

"[I]t felt like coming home after a long day. It felt like peace and calm. It felt like all was finally right with the world."

"I'm normally so strong, so controlled, but you make me weak in all the best ways."

"I would wait for you forever."

"Being with you makes me feel happy and loved and cherished and safe."

The plot concept is so cool, especially having gone into this blind without reading the summary. I really enjoyed the characters and diversity. The world building is fascinating and expansive. Overall I had a good time reading this book.

However while I am glad I read this one, I'm not sure I'll be picking up the next in the series. For me this book felt a little underdeveloped and I wish it were longer so the author could've really dived deeper into the story and the characters.

For one thing, there's a lot of tell not show and only surface level descriptors. Focus' backstory is also interesting as hell but I wish we got more of a chance to see the nuanced effects it would have on her psyche, to understand what she went through beyond
"and then i was big sad and lonely but now I'm all better because love!" Plus, her own backstory is such an epic and tragic story, I had high hopes for something equally as epic for the climax of this book and sadly didn't get that. the most interesting part was the time jump, and after that the plot fizzled for me

A short story taking place Ina world of superheros. Danny a marshal meets Focus, one the most strongest superhero. When they meet it was love at first sight but it felt familiar. During admission Danny goes back in time meets Focus/Ayanda and both fall in love again. Danny becomes a superhero as well and fight villains with Ayanda now. Great world setting, very descriptive characters not leaving much to imagination. Quick and cozy read for me
