I liked this book. Reid’s books have a clickbait quality since they focus on celebrities and their inner lives, but when I read books I am usually looking for something else, so the topic doesn’t really interest me. This book was kind of boring to me (husband after husband ughhhh) until the friendships and
gay
love stories came to be, and then I was invested in the characters (Harry). I liked that this book goes deeper into topics of race, class, queerness, gender, patriarchy, domestic abuse, etc. The author made a seemingly superficial subject much more nuanced and real, which I respect. Still though, not my favorite.

Beware of this book!! It WILL remind you of the complexities of humanity and love and you WILL be at risk of forgiving exes prematurely!!

I didn’t want to read this book. I really didn’t. The glitz and glam of Hollywood is, to me, wholly uninteresting and unappealing. It’s all just so fake. And that, ironically, is exactly the point of this book. The “truth” we present to the world isn’t always what it seems and sometimes isn’t even close to the reality of how we feel, how we live, or who we love. This was a masterpiece and I’m grateful to have taken the recommendation, even if it tore my heart to pieces and left me sobbing my eyes out. My only regret is that I’ll never be able to read it for the first time again. Simply stunning…

Such a poignant story that stayed with me throughout the days of reading it, even when the book was not in my hands. I absolutely loved this story and its characters.

Okay, this book truly lived up to the hype. I read this third, I got Malibu Rising first, then Daisy jones, and then this and it was definitely my favorite! Even though I did really enjoy the other two. The plot twist at the end and her "secret" I did NOT see coming. I laughed, I was angry, I cried. What else can you ask for in a reading experience.
