Stayed up late to finish; this was an authentic, tough, sympathetic story about the effects of the opioid crisis on multiple generations of a Philadelphia family, but also a well-crafted, page-turning crime thriller. I will have to check out this author's previous novels!

Two sisters have taken very different paths away from their difficult childhood - one has become a police officer while the other has struggled with drug addiction and homelessness. When her sister goes missing at the same time as a rise in murders of vulnerable women occurs, solving the case has become very personal. This was a compelling story and very sympathetic look at people struggling on the edge of society.

I own a physical copy but ended up borrowing the audiobook. It pulled me in right away and I looked forward to picking back up where I left off each time I had a chance! I didn’t know who to trust in this one. It kept me guessing.
