Well-written smut as always just that the bully romance was not my cup of tea. More than just the smut, we got the depth of Zita's all-consuming quest for revenge and how it may not be what she was searching for after all. The unexpected twists and turns kept you on your toes without realizing it. Things were not as clear-cut as we first thought.

Can't wait to see the couple in the next Shadows of the Tenebris Court book.

This was a quick, enjoyable read. Think darker, sexier, Beauty and the Beast murder mystery. Zita (FMC) and Sepher (MMC) had great chemistry and tension, and honestly the spice was spicier than I expected but pretty good. Make sure to check triggers on this stuff though,  lots of it was definitely falling into the dubcon range. It was a little exhausting living in Zita’s head and constantly being reminded that she only lives for revenge when she so clearly was starting to have other reasons to live.
I’m glad that they sorted out that Sepher wasn’t her sister’s murderer about halfway through, because I think it made it more fun and believable to have them working together and falling in love while trying to uncover the real murderer.
The last quarter of the book felt a bit rushed and I missed the budding friendships between Zita and the other female characters,
and a proposal at the climax is a bit cliche but at least it wasn’t him revealing they were mates or something.
I picked this up as a taster for Clare Sager’s writing style and world building before committing to her 600+ page book, which I happily found out will have an appearance by this couple included, and I enjoyed their story enough to continue exploring this world.

(Spoilers)

I feel like it was really good (even including him being shitty to her) up until we found out he wasn't the one who killed her sister and then it changed up SO FAST it threw me off tbh

Suddenly its like "I can outwardly lust after this guy and he hates it because he likes me but I'm the one who ruined his life"

And then the plot twist of who DID KILL HER SISTER?????? there was no sign I mean shit I thought it was Cadan because that would've made the teeniest bit of sense (nice guy turned bad syndrome?????) Idk
