Easy-going Christmas romance book with delightful Hallmark movie feels.

I found this book to be a nice little romcom. There wasn’t much I feel with the characters and the story was alright.

I loved this book. It was cute read.

I liked the sorta enemies to lovers that happened. Parts of the book had me cracking up. I loved the little town they were in and how everything was Christmas-themed, but the town sucked at celebrating Christmas.

The plot was so ridiculous but it worked. It was a Hallmark movie, but the teenage version of one.

The only thing that was wrong with the book is that in some parts it was pretty bland. The pacing would be hot and cold. A lot was packed in and then it would slow down. The book just needs more even pacing.

Sixteen year old Finley Brown always excelled in school, so when she is struggling in her new prestigious boarding school in Connecticut, she last minute decides to go home to Christmas, Oklahoma for Christmas break. Once there, she is hit with family secrets that she never saw coming. Factor in that fellow boarding school classmate Arthur and his aunt decide to stay at her family's Inn to have a perfect American Christmas things get more complicated. A cute Hallmark movie feeling to the book.

This book turned out to be the perfect brain break that I needed just before Christmas break. Finley doesn't fit in at her exclusive boarding school and is contemplating coming back home to Christmas, Oklahoma. Securing a flight home, she is shocked to arrive home and find that her parents are separated. Even worse, one of her classmates Arthur has brought his aunt with him to celebrate Christmas and Christmas. They decided to visit based on the town's website that Finley secretly embellished to impress her new classmates.

The hilarity and soul searching that Finley encounters on her trip home is a cross between a Hallmark movie and National Lampoon's Christmas vacation. A definite hit.

I did not finish this book. I got to chapter nine and had to call it quits. As a 27 year old woman, I don't usually read young adult books, but given that this is a Christmas book, I figured it would have to be cute! The plot itself is fine, it was the writing and pace I had a huge problem with. The language and descriptions were too 'teeny' for me and it just felt immature. I guess that's the risk you take with reading young adult books, as an adult. The pace was slow, it crawled along and I didn't connect to any of the characters. It felt so busy with so many characters, so many side story lines that it felt choppy. I would imagine it has a happy ending but I couldn't bring myself to power through and finish it. I would give what I read, two stars.

What a December guys. I've read so many holiday-themed books and they all got me into the spirit. But I think I need a huge break from them, so I'm happy that So, This Is Christmas will be my last holiday-themed book for 2021.

In this, you will meet Finley and Arthur. Know they each other from school but I wouldn't necessarily say they were friends there. More like acquaintances. So, when Arthur comes to Finley's town, Christmas, and demands an epic Christmas. Well, it's safe to say she's surprised. Maybe in shock.

Things honestly didn't go smoothly at all. It was hilarious every time things went chaotic. The reindeer sleigh rides, grumpy elves, and a romance mystery were such a joy. I also really enjoyed Arthur. He was probably my favorite character the entire time.

As for the drama? Eh. I knew it was coming but I didn't see what the big deal was. Luckily, for everyone involved, things simmered down and the truth came out. The Christmas magic was sprinkled over everyone, and we get a happy ending. It was definitely a cute story, and I could totally see it becoming a movie.
