A lovely book, and I can’t believe it’s taken me this long to read it! I read a fair bit of world war 2 history, but the occupation of the Channel Islands was a story I haven’t heard before. Nicely paced and using the letter format in an interesting way, I’m glad I finally got to this one.

A lovely read (listen). Serious where it needed to be, but also humorous and a lot of fun. I appreciated the multiple narrators for the audiobook who lent their voices to the many characters. All of the characters were well-written, I think my favorites were Dawsey & Isola. The epistolary format worked so well to tell this story.
