"Heartless Monster" by Rachel Leigh is about step-siblings Rome and Elodie {and their blended family}. This high school bully romance evolves from hate to love, adding a twist to the typical enemies-to-lovers trope;)
It’s a perfect blend of suspense, taboo, loyalty, and the right amount of dark romance.
Looking forward to reading more of this series☺️

Rome Cromwell saved Elodie Astor. She was scared, she was in danger, and suddenly, he was there. She, in turn, tried to help him. But in doing so, she ended up ruining his life. Now their parents are married, and they’re living together. He’s out for revenge, and she can’t escape him; not at school and not at home.
Rome was such a d*ck to Elodie in the beginning. I mean, he was the popular guy at school, so everyone followed him. They were all cruel to Elodie, and I felt bad for her. But she was strong, and she didn’t let them see how it affected her. She still stood up for herself, which was amazing.
Elodie was also kind of “innocent” and just didn’t want to cause trouble. She was kind to Rome, especially when she saw his vulnerabilities.
These two definitely had a lot of tension between them, and Rome felt like Elodie “owed” him for ruining his life. So…well, he became obsessed and possessive. He also didn’t like anyone else being cruel to her — it was only him that could hurt her.
This was a little angsty, dark, and suspenseful. I really enjoyed it and hope the other siblings get a book too!
Tropes:
Enemies to Lovers
Bully Romance
High School Romance
Step siblings (stepbrother/stepsister)
Forced Proximity
OTT jealous/possessive hero
Bad boy football player/good girl

The amount of angst and feelings I felt for this book is insane. I was on the edge of my seat every second while I was reading!
In just one night 2 peoples lives changed in a blink of an eye. For Elodie she found her knight in shining armor but for Rome he found his ruination. Now it’s a year later and they are being forced together as step siblings. Rome is making it his mission to destroy Elodie but for all the hell he puts her through she doesn’t back down.
If you need a good step sibling, forced proximity, dark bully romance then THIS IS THE ONE FOR YOU!! Plus you can’t go wrong with a little sport romance as well. Easily hands down a five star read for me. As much as I wanted to hate Rome the more I read the more I fell for him. And that ending…..

Loved this book!
I really enjoyed this book! I loved seeing how they met and everything that happened between them. I loved the moment when they finally admitted his feelings.

No good deep goes unpunished, no matter who you are. Rome's heroic deed of rescuing Elodie came with a steep price. One that he intends to collect no matter what. A year later, they cross paths again, but this time as step-siblings. Elodie has no idea who saved her that night or what happened after she escaped, but Rome remembers. However, he is not the only one.
The tension and banter between Rome and Elodie was refreshing. It was a battle of wills as neither was backing down from what they believed was right. Despite Rome's need for revenge, he grew to care, love, and protect Elodie, just like that night. Their ~encounters~ left me at the edge of my seat more than once.
This is my first step-siblings read and even though I enjoyed this book, I'm still on the fence with the trope. It is a great read so I still would recommend any to read it!

Heartless Monster is a Bully Romance that will have you absolutely hooked.
Rome absolutely hates her, Elodie has no clue why. Forced together and stuck to endure his torture day in and out.
The forced proximity, spice, push and pull left me needing more after every page. Him falling first and hard was just
I love love love him! He is a jerk but really he is a hurt individual who had everything taken from him when he just wanted to help. These two together are so perfect! While he pretends not to be any better than the originals he saved her from he is so possessive and honestly protective. Once he realizes his feelings have truly changed and he comes to terms with them he is quick to let her know and make her understand that he still owns her just in a different way. I really cannot wait to get all the peeks at them through other characters. I also so hope we get other characters.
