It's hard to really "rate" a person's story from their own mind so I only put 4/5 because I wanted something haha
I loved how Sam told his stories and his whole narrative of finding what is best for him and fighting through the struggle of the walk itself. I've loved Outlander for a long time, but this really even ups it for me since I now feel I know him that much more.
Would recommend!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
I really enjoyed this book! I thought it was a great insight into his life. I didn’t know much about the actor apart from his main role on Outlander, so learning something new about him, and his childhood was really interesting. I love how he interspersed his memoir with the walking journey in Scotland, because I felt like it made it more natural that way. Definitely he Wrote this himself because you could tell how much he cared about what he was saying. It’s hard to explain how I knew he didn’t get a ghost rider to write this, but you can just tell when somebody who’s passionate about what they’re talking about is the one writing the book.
I found this book hard to read at points. It’s not because the book was a difficult read or that it was slow. When Sam talked about his challenges, he made me think about the challenges I faced in my life. I have some major changes coming up this year and I am very scared. I think I am mostly ready for these changes but it’s nice to know that someone else didn’t have it all figured it out in their mid 20s to early 30s.

It was great to learn about Sam’s life and his journey on the West Highland Way. The book felt a bit disjointed at parts though with the toggling back and forth between memoir and trail journal, and some sections were redundant.

Such a clever framing device for an autobiography! The joy is in the journey.

Solid 4 stars. I enjoyed the glimpses into the past which I wasn't as familiar with, and the descriptions of Sam's Fall 2021 hiking trip. I am especially fond of the sections where he was more serious and introspective. Most of all, I was pleased with the single POV, because it didn't have some of the weak points of his past works (not his faults).
Note: 4 stars is for the print Radar books, 270 page version with signed bookplate from Waterstones. (Still unsure why the versions are not accurately listed here.)
Audible is a 5-star download!
