Listened on Audible - was a very immersive experience, from the multiple attempts on different accents to the phone recordings placed throughout to really dive into the experience with Sam. He thoughtfully switches from past to present sharing moments from his childhood to the beginnings of his career in a thoughtful and beautifully winding manner. Gave insights into a career so different from my own it was interesting to see a side of it from someone who didn't just burst onto the scene but persevered and struggled to achieve his dreams and goals.
If you love Sam Heughan, I can't recommend this enough: LISTEN TO THIS BOOK. His Scottish brogue just simply tells you story after story, and I was here for it.
The narration centers around his decision to do something for him--he had time off from working (not much, but some) so he decided to hike the West Highlands Way and climb to the top of Ben Nevis. Along the way, he explains some of the pivotal waypoints in his own life and journey to where he is now.

Memoirs by actors are one of my favorite memoir subgenres to read. Even when I am not familiar with the entirety of their work, I find the story of how they made their way through life to get to where they are today often moving and inspiring.
Sam Heughan has a lyrical way of reminiscing over his life and his journey on the Highland Way; you can't help but feel as though you are trudging the path along side him and sharing a conversation about his life. Like many other women, I've fallen in love with Jamie Fraser not only through the Outlander books but also through Sam's portrayal in the television series. On the pages of Waypoints I found a chance to get to know the actor behind that portrayal and see what elements of himself to bring that character to life.
Waypoint is perhaps one of the most beautifully written memoirs I've had a chance to read. I finished feeling reflective of my own life and moved to take a greater appreciate for the world around me and how I walk through it.

Sam Heughan is an incredible writer and storyteller
Audiobooks include Sam’s voice memos during his hike. Really enjoyed listening.
This is a lovely book to read and listen to -- especially if you listen to audiobooks while walking. I really enjoyed the way it was structured, alternating between his big hike and his journey to an acting career.
listened to Waypoints on Spotify while on a road trip. Thankfully, it was narrated by Sam Heughan himself!
