A pleasant, rambling hike through the Scottish Highlands. Interspersed with tales of Heughan's life, it's an easy read, quite relaxing, and enjoyable for the most part. I probably enjoyed the walking parts more so than the reflections on his career, but it was fine. Scotland is a magical place, so his description of his homeland is quite lovely and calming.

This audiobook was excellent. Sexy Scottish accent aside, Sam Heughan's narration is funny and engaging. I love the little quips he throws in.

And the story is good, too. In this 2022 memoir, Heughan recounts his 5-day hike along Scotland's West Highland Way. That's 96 miles, y'all. His journey is juxtaposed with details and insights from his past.

Really want to do the WHW myself next year, so reading about the trials and tribulations of someone else was fascinating.

I’ve never seen Outlander (or seen this actor in anything else) so I guess I was hoping for more focus on the Scottish highlands and the walk itself, but that wasn’t as much as I thought it would be. There aren’t very good descriptions of the highlands imo. It’s more of an overall memoir, which I think fans of Outlander would enjoy, but I thought it was kinda cheesy. 2.5 stars

Reading this journey made me reflect on a backpacking trip I had completed July 2022. I was nodding my head the entire time Sam was explaining his journey through the Scottish highlands, I imagine the views were breathtaking. I absolutely would recommend reading the audiobook. I enjoyed the ways Sam’s personality was able to shine through, he made it feel like we were best friends catching up for a chat over coffee.

First of all, I LOVE Sam Heughan. I can just tell he is a fun guy, a good human, and a person whose energy and charisma draws you in. I also, as an avid audiobook reader, love a good memoir read by the author. This was no exception. It was fantastic. I loved the story structure, his voice, his interjections at certain points, and hearing clips from his actual journey. Such a fun read.
