A simple and innovative take on a Memoir. I admit I picked this book up because I love the show Outlander and if you don't already know Sam Heughan plays the lead role of Jamie. The book switches between two parts: Sam taking on the West Highland Way and Sam reminiscing on his own life and journey as an actor and as a person. In many chapters the two parallel each other. Sometimes they don't. Sam, despite being a very private person, also gets very vulnerable in several ways throughout this book. It's empowering inasmuch as it is soul baring. Not usually a fan of memoirs, but I enjoyed the refreshing take on this one. If you enjoy either Outlander, memoirs, or the outdoors I think you would find this one delightful.

A lovely glimpse of Scotland interspersed with an autobiography of the actor. Only Sam Heughan fans will enjoy.

A silly little read! I loved the humor and highly recommend pairing with the audio book

I listened to the audio book narrated by Sam himself on my daily walks and it was magic! Wonderful walk through Scottish Highlands and Sam's life journey.

I went in with not too much expectations for the writing but found it a surprisingly well-written and entertaining memoir. Though at times, a bit too repetitive.
Not only do you come to learn more about Sam, but the reader is also taken along the introspective reflections and revelations of his life starting from his childhood into adulthood whilst the hike takes place. Not to mention, some humor is also included.
With themes touching on the importance of slowing-living and the power of nature, this book can be valuable for anyone and not only actors or hikers.

Really enjoyed this and it was the perfect thing to read on the plane to Scotland. Enhanced the experience when I got to the highlands. This is the 3rd hiking book I’ve read (bill Bryson’s a walk in the woods and wild by Cheryl strand). Are there more in this niche genre?

As a fan of his work, I was excited to hear him narrate this journey of his. I loved the actual clips from his track. I liked him going back-and-forth between present and past. Often, when we are outside hiking, we are in our own head, so it was nice to get a glimpse into his history. This is a well written, expertly preformed memoir.
