I appreciated this look inside Sam's life outside of what is commonly known, but the back and forth writing style felt jarring to me.
Do I am a fan of Sam? Yes do I enjoyed the book. YES I am not a big biography reader but because are the memories of Sam I wanted to have access to this arc. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for give me the access and to sam for exist. I like the duality of this book because I felt sometimes was very practical and other times where very poetical I liked the narration of the author own journey with struggles and all. I like the vulnerability in this book you can really sense it and as a reader you always appreciate this. I like the way the story is controlled and I like it was a time of his life where he shout off the whole tv thing and focus in his hiking. I do recomend the book was interesting and enjoyable.
It was so enjoyable to glimpse this side of Sam Heughan! He really shows his vulnerability in this memoir; he’s not superhuman as it is easy to project on him as he plays The King of Men on Outlander (not to say Jamie isn’t vulnerable, but it is a different kind of vulnerability). Not to mention all of his personal and professional pursuits including his charity, My Peak Challenge. Definitely listen to his audiobook for the full experience!

This book seemed to be a memoir on two separate levels, with Sam walking the highland way and the story of his life. I had the added bonus of listening to the audio book so every now and then a small clip of recording from his walk would play. Both in the vivid descriptions, and the occasional original recordings, you truly felt as if you were on the walk as well. He may be well known for his acting but his writing is equally as fun.
While Sam says he is a private person, you do seem to get the feeling you know him after finishing this book. Occasionally he would bring up one of his products or movies, but I didn’t get the sense he was simply plugging it for product placement. Rather I felt that he would bring the items up as they tied into his life.
Overall I truly enjoyed listening to his story. It was an uplifting memoir that I would recommend. He does discuss outlander a lot, but I think this book could interest more than just the show and book fans.
