"Waypoints: My Scottish Journey" by Sam Heughan was a very entertaining read, which made me laugh out loud more than a few times.
The only trouble is, as a fan of Sam Heughan, who reads and listens to all his interviews, 80% of this book covered anecdotes I already knew. Still, the writing was so fun that I didn't mind too much, and having the audiobook read by Sam Heughan himself was an added bonus, as I love the sound of his voice.

I enjoyed this memoir, which alternates between stories of Sam’s life and acting career and his experience hiking the West Scotland Way. Resilience required for both! Excellent narration by the author/actor.
He's a great actor, but not the most riveting author. Follow Sam on a massive journey of a couple of miles a day followed by a stay in a hotel every night. Along the way, you'll discover his love of talking to mushrooms and running scared from sheep. "Nice sheepy". I'm sorry man. I love your whiskey and one tv series, but I could have skipped this one.

I thoroughly enjoyed the author’s reflections on his career and his adventures and musings while hiking the West Highland Way from Glasgow to Fort William in Scotland.
This is an autobiography done right. After reading this, I can’t help but commend Sam Heughan for the determination, courage, and perseverance that not only guided him through years of auditions and rejections, but took him on a five day, 100 mile journey through the Scottish highlands.
As he walks the West Highland Way and includes humorous, tender hearted, and inspiring moments of self reflection and human interaction throughout, he intersperses these narratives with reflections about his life and acting career. There are so many parallels in how both stories play out, and the end result is a deeply gratifying, inspirational tale to which every reader can relate. His prose is wonderful, and he comes across as a very keen observer and kindhearted human. I loved this!

I love to read memoirs of people that live/have lived different experiences than I have and this one was a pleasant read. Writing wise it could have used some more editing as the back and forth between his hiking journey and his past felt clunky in many spots and some of the language differences created stopping points for me instead of easily reading through and allowing myself to feel the story. Overall was a fun read!

i listened to this book on Audible - and Sam has an amazing narrative voice. i primarily chose this book bc 1) outlander obsessed, 2) love the history of scotland and 3) love memoirs of actors' backgrounds in the industry. if you like any of these things you'll love this book. Sam is a Scot through and through - you will learn so much great history about Scotland, and truly walk alongside him on some of Scotland's most famous roads.
