[AUDIOBOOK]

This was such a heartwarming story. I loved this book so much I'm actually sad I finished it. And I can't believe I CRIED. WOW. Like actual tears were rolling down my face, I just couldn't stop it. I'm not even sure I can explain why it hit me so hard right in the feels, it just did.

I was sad but happy but mad but happy throughout the whole book, how's that even possible?

WHY AM I STILL CRYING??

The characters were unique, that's how I can describe them. I thought the same thing about the characters of "My Grandmother Asked Me to Tell You She's Sorry", I don't know what makes them so different, I think it's just the writer doing an excellent job.

So, Ove. *cries*

People had always said that Ove was bitter. But he wasn't bloody bitter. He just didn't go around grinning the whole time.

OVE WAS JUST A MISUNDERSTOOD MAN. HE WAS A KIND SOUL AND THE WORLD DIDN'T DESERVE HIM, PERIOD!
He was just an honest man and the only thing he wanted was to enjoy the simple things in life, he didn't mess with anyone and he wasn't complicated, he was just a devoted husband and a hardworking man.

I adored Ove and Sonja's charming love story. The way he saw her and knew right away that he wanted to spend the rest of his life with her. And the way they were so different from one another but also complemented each other. I think it's beautiful how much Ove loved Sonja. I also think that's why their tragic story hit me so hard because they didn't deserve everything that happened to them.

After Sonja's death, I think meeting Parvaneh and her family it's just what he needed. It changed him for the best. No, it didn't change him, he was already like that but didn't dare to show it to anyone else. It made me really happy to see their relationship developed, they became like father and daughter, Ove had the opportunity to have a family again.

Dude, Parvaneh's daughters called him GRANDPA AND HE BOUGHT AN IPAD FOR THE OLDER ONE EVEN THOUGH HE HATES TECHNOLOGY AND HE HELPED ADRIAN WITH HIS CAR.

I'm crying again.

I just loved this book so much. It definitively became a favorite.

Read this for my book club, and just loved it. Can't wait for us to meet and talk about it. I found Ove to be a perfectly imperfect character with a heart much bigger than he ever wanted to let on. I laughed, cried, and simply felt good after I finished reading.

I cried more in the last 15 pages than I did from 2017 to 2019

I'm going to start this by saying that I have no idea of what to say to describe half of my feelings towards this book.

A Man Called Ove tells a story about this old man who, six months after his wife's death, plans to kill himself. He has all of his affairs in order. Until he meets a cat and his new neighbors who seems to show up right when he's getting ready to die. Every. Single. Time.

I think mostly what captivated me in this story was the build up. The book starts with Ove trying to buy an Ipad without the reader having any idea as to why he needs a “computer”. It shows his criticisms about the world. Both of them are things that you figure out at some point in the story, but not right away. For me, it just made the story more special. The author even says: “A time like that comes for every man, when he chooses what sort of man he wants to be. And if you don’t know the story, you don’t know the man.”, and we get to know exactly who Ove was, who he became and why.

The characters were another thing that worked so well for me. This story was mainly about Ove and his experiences, but the people who came into his life all have their own stories. It might not be enough to make you love them, but it did work well enough for me. Parvaneh, Patrick, the seven-year-old (seriously did he give her a name??), Nasanin, and the Cat Annoyance are all characters who play a big part over who he became. And there are others like Anita, Rune, Jimmy, and, mostly, Sonja who were there with him throughout his jorney. Even if they were seeing everything from the outside.

I don't know how I'll feel about this book tomorrow or in a few weeks, but I don't doubt that this will be my favorite read of the month (and this is January 5th and my second book). This was more special for me than I ever thought it would be.

PS: Work Song by Hozier is DEFINITELY Ove’s song. Like, come on!!!

Was literally fighting tears every time I opened this book. Couldn’t fight anymore by the end.
If you need reminding how precious life is go read it.

I can’t get over how Sonja would have loved the life Ove built for himself. And the fact that she didn’t get to share it with him makes me physically sick. RIP Sonja and Ove
