*Slight (only slight) spoilers* This is a book I did not expect to enjoy as much as I did all the way through based on the reviews. So first let me say, if you’re looking for something other than a quirky, almost ridiculous at times, simple read... this isn’t for you. It WILL make you roll your eyes lol
It’s explores that crucial “bout to be 30” age that women go through where everything starts to be on a “timeline” — which can lead to so much uncertainty & rash decisions. With that being said it was a WILD RIDE and all 300+ pages were PAGE TURNERS. Was it predictable once the twin brother came into play? OF COURSE lol Was it a cookie cutter-type ending... (spoiler)... yeah lol But it was super enjoyable to read if you want a fast paced read for a distraction.

As all her books are, this was a quick and light read. It had little impact but was fun enough. I found the story to be somewhat predictable. I enjoyed the 9/11 story line as well as the cameos from former Giffin characters!
2.5 stars
Ever read a book where the story didn't necessarily bug you but the main character was definitely someone you wouldn't be friends with IRL? Exactly. Cecily was an annoying main character. She was nosy, self involved, and just ridiculous.
I also don't think I was a fan of using 9/11 in this story. It just sort of seemed to be in the background as a convenient ploy to separate people. I don't know...not for me. But also, remember 9/11 and how we were all so unified as a country? Yeah...so there was that sort of nostalgia.
Admittedly, I tend to roll my eyes with romance novels. So take my opinion for what it's worth but this was just ok; one of those predictable chick lit stories. Take it or leave it.

DNF. I was having a hard time with this one from the beginning- small town girl, break up, gay best friend, late night encounter with sexy mysterious stranger.....there was too much thrown in even for a “need a break read” like this one. I hopped onto GR to get a sense of what others were thinking, feeling and writing about this book. Turns out I was not alone. So many people had the same problems with the book. Using 9/11 as a plot devise in a “rom com” is beyond inappropriate.
I’m not a royal watcher but did follow what happened with Harry and Meghan since it was all over the news. The idea that the royals and royals adjacent were allowed to express their racism to and about Meghan was inexcusable. I was a fan of QE II but she dropped the ball here. Bess you’re the Monarch it’s time to stand up and say - this behavior is inappropriate and will not be tolerated.

I CANNOT EVEN with this book. It's bad sentence level writing. So. Bad. Character development is non-existent, and it relies on the evil ex-girlfriend trope. However, the worst thing is that it uses 9-11 as a point in its drama-llama soap opera plot shenanigans.
This was a book club book that someone else picked, and it convinced me to stay far far away from the author's other books.

I went into this book not really sure I was up for this genre right now, but I’m so glad that I did.
This story went in directions that I wasn’t expecting. I thought it was just going to be a love story of the couple that meets in a bar. And while it kind of is, there were several things that I wasn’t expecting...and I’m so glad for that.
I enjoyed the characters but found each of them frustrating at times, which made them more real and relatable maybe. My feelings toward certain characters changed over the course of the book. For example, with Grant I thought he was just a playboy and Cecily shouldn’t get involved with him. But then I wondered why is he always coming over late and says he stays on friends’ couches...is he homeless and not who or what he says he is??? And then I started to like him and hope that Cecily liked him too. But then I started to wonder about him being a playboy again when Cecily went to visit him in London, then tragedy strikes and I feel sad about him, until I feel angry about him again, and finally in the end, I like him. It was like that for all the characters for me...my feelings were all over the place.
This is a book without a lot of story lines to follow but interesting enough to keep one reading.
Given the timeframe and setting of the book you can guess what may happen but I was surprised about everything that happens after that.
I haven’t read anything from Emily Griffin before so I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. I’m glad I took a chance on this book and will be adding some Emily Griffin books to my TBR list.
I received an electronic copy of this book from Netgalley and Random House Publishing Group-Ballantine in exchange for my honest review.

I don’t like the main character. Or her bf. Her x or her current. Also I don’t like a 911 lie story
This could have went a lot of diff ways , it wasn’t the right way

So the premise was ok but the characters were pretty awful and the setting, 9/11 didn't work.
