Love & Other Disasters made my heart so full, the whole thing felt like a warm hug. As a queer nonbinary person that loves food this one touched a very personal spot for me. Just trying to explain my love for this book gets me misty.
I just adore London and Dahlia so much it hurts. I felt so connected to them both, they’re the type of characters I’m going to miss.
I loved every part of this book and I’m so glad it exists. A beautiful and incredibly validating read.
Thank you so much Anita Kelly, I hope your autumnal soup is always perfectly spiced and the sun is always shining on your sweet angel head <3

An enjoyable, if somewhat predictable read. It's always good to see a representation of not just queer but also non-binary people, and one that doesn't end in tragedy.
I loved the relationships between Dahlia and Hank, and London and Julie. It was refreshing to see both sides of family drama.
Nothing particularly ground-breaking, but a fun and comforting read all the same.

This was a fun book. It was my second time reading a nonbinary main character but this featured some cool meditations on gender and feeling at home in your own skin that, as a trans woman, I really resonated with. Just a little spice, but the spice was very fun and I loved the consent scenes (“I’m going to need a verbal ‘yes’,” and asking an enby person where is ok/not ok to touch them prior to any touching was a really cool thing to do).

Y’all, I don’t even have the words to tell you how much I loved this beautiful book. There was so much good here, I’m not even sure where to begin. First off, I adored the cooking competition setup, which is unsurprising as I’m an unapologetic GBBO fan. But what I loved best about the competition is that it brought Dahlia and London together. Those two had me all up in my feels as their friendship blossomed into more. I loved the representation in this book. This entire journey was as sweet and emotional as it was sexy. Absolute perfection.
This book is adorable and I loved the characters and the representation of queer love. Add in the chef and the Top Chef knock off and I am all in. Just a few quibbles: why is everyone white? I mean it’s the food scene, probably one of the most diverse scenes anywhere. Also, and this is nit picky, there is a very blink and you’ll miss it nasty comment about bar and bat mitzvahs that felt unnecessary.
This is so up my alley. Reality cooking competition where a woman and a non-binary contestant meet and fall in love! Sparks! Drama! It’s awesome
This book was so cute!! I really enjoyed it every step of the way, and looked forward to reading it every evening before bed. Anita Kelly’s writing has such a special charm about it- I can’t wait to read more of their work!

Fun, easy and quick to read, cute main characters. Love a queer romance.
4.5 stars. I’ve loved Anita Kelly’s novellas and their debut novel was equally delightful!
