There wasn't a lot of plot, and the characters were developed but also felt sparse somehow - austere. Something was being held back. Yet I couldn't put it down. I deducted points for a non-ending...perhaps it's because it's part of a series, BUT STILL.

Not what I was expecting from the blurb, so much is left u said but still a really great internal look at the characters. I felt frustrated but in a way that I'd feel frustrated about people I actually know.

Not really for me. I enjoyed the plot but the writing seemed a bit understated or maybe I just couldn’t quite follow it well. Sometimes got confused with the characters and couldn’t grasp them fully.

Didn’t love this. I didn’t understand Eilis’ thinking, I didn’t feel like I got to know her. I therefore didn’t sympathise with her. I liked Jim, and Nancy to an extent as I felt I got to know them more. The other characters I didn’t understand, and I thought the ending wasn’t good.

Honestly, this book had no business existing and nothing happens in it. People go places and talk; then they don’t say anything important, and everything is unimportant because there’s no conclusion. Honestly one of the worst books I’ve read this year
