3,5 estrellas ¿Pero quien mira?

When I was 12 years old, I deiced to binge the first season of the tv show. I absolutely loved it, as an adult I realized that it wasn't good, but that doesn't matter right now. A few months ago I was wondering what happened (as the show was cancelled after one season and there was a cliffhanger) so I looked it up and found nothing. The books were so obscure that I could find nothing on what happened, even in the wikipedia, so I bought the book.

It was so bad that it was good. The story was a bit tacky, at a few points I cringed, but I could never put it down. I usually try to read a chapter or two a day, but there were days where I would read three, maybe even four. The show messed up what was actually a pretty good story considering it was written in 2004. Maybe if they had followed it closer it could have actually made it into an ongoing series.

Anyway I will be purchasing the next to books, I can't wait to see what happens next and to maybe the few people who read this review, give it a shot because at least you will get a few good laughs out of it like I did.

Chloe is an ordinary teen, her mum is on her case, she wants the school hottie to notice her and hangs with her two best friends. The day before her 16th birthday, Chloe falls 200ft and walks away. Nothing is the same after that. I liked Chloe - she has a lot of attitude - but that makes her more real. The pace was good - stops abrupbtly since it is a definate series. There is some clever imagery as well. Looking forward to reading the others.

It got a lot much better towards the end. A nice read.

look let's be real i ain't got time for things i don't feel like reading and this was a mistake to even begin with, but it has been on my tbr for years, even before i started reading in english and paranormal was still trending.

>this was more fun and less annoying than most ya written around that time, it didn't have all those cliches, and it was more real, as in alcohol, wild partying(even on mondays? weird flex, but you do you)
>the mc isn't your typical bland, quiet heroine and she actually tries to go for her popular crush.
>at the same time she is kind of annoying and for some reason can't deal with her hormons and already gets involved with like two guys, and thinks about her best friend, who is dating her other best friend.
>it's more teen melodrama than actual plot. during the 30% i read, there were like two smaller instances regarding the upcoming fantasy element(starting with chloe surviving a 200 feet long fall), and something about girls ending up dead.
>but other than that, it focused on chloe looking at sea lions with her bland russian crush and her best friends.
>why do we need a "uh my best friends hooked up" plotline, idgaf.
>her russian crush is also boring.
>i don't think the book takes itself seriously, but it's kind of corny and cheesy. it gave me buffy the vampire slayer vibes, but with much more cringe humor and dialogues than that show.

overall even though this is short as fuck, it was just not a book that could hold my interest for long, and i decided that reading it would change nothing just take up time from reading stuff i might be more interested in. it wasn't that bad, and if i read it in physical format, i'd have finished it for sure(especially because it's like 250 pages). maybe at some point in the future, when i need something cheesy.

It was just okay. I kept thinking the whole time how the TV is much more likable. I mean, I only BOUGHT those books because I enjoyed the TV show and needed to know how it ends, since it got an early cancellation.
Hope it gets a little better in the next ones.

When a reporter on GMA said that the new tv series based on the book would be "like a combination between Buffy and Twilight" I was intrigued. So, I got a sample on my kindle, breezed through it and found myself strangely wanting more. I bought it and read it in one sitting.

It has that effect that The Sims has on you. You know it's sorta brainless, it's an easy read, you spend time trying to get to one level just to realize you could reach another in 10 minutes, but once you actually walk away from the computer, you realize *so much* time has gone by and you really haven't done anything. Yet that strange attraction that brings you back pulls at you, demanding that you get more. Because this is something that I experienced when I read the Twilight series and because there are some similarities with Buffy, I can definitely say that the analogy I heard on GMA was about as close it could get.

Not everyone will like this, but it's a strangely compelling story, unique in its description of HS life without being pseudo-intellectual or another "coming of age" story with nothing but angst and tragedy. Really, it's just a story about how HS is stressful enough without any superpowers and now that Chloe has some strange things going on, well, check it out and read it. The first three books are just 9.99 on Amazon Kindle. Quick, easy read, a nice refreshing break between the classics.
