Okay I think I absolutely disinterest and annoyance with this book was that I am not invested in the characters or this series. I didn’t realize it’s as a series and picked it up as a stand alone and absolutely could not get into the characters was so miffed at how horrifically graphic it was. How many times can your describe forensic rape? I was super over it. Seems like I would have enjoyed it more if I had been reading along with the series:
adventurous dark mysterious sad fast-paced
Plot or Character Driven: Plot
Strong character development: Complicated
Loveable characters: Complicated
Diverse cast of characters: No
Flaws of characters a main focus: Yes

Too much personal/family drama. Didn't guess the end. Good plot concerning the crimes.

UGH SO GOOD

Cannot be read fully as stand alone. Needs a good solid editing, there's so much needless fluff. Too much relationship drama for a crime novel.

Eight years ago, Grant county saw two girls brutally raped and murdered. The authorities that conducted the investigation are confident that they’ve found and convicted the guy behind this.
For eight years, the convicted inmate declares he isn’t guilty to whoever would listen. But no one ever really did. “Con’s gonna con”.
Now, it’s 8 years later, and a case shows up bearing the same horrifying MO. The killer has been out lurking, operating and learning from his mistakes.
As the story jumps between past and present investigations of the same case, ghosts of the past resurface and old wounds flare with each investigator wondering if they’ve done all they could.

This is a raw, gory, dark, graphic but gripping and unputdownable book. A fast paced thriller. @karinslaughterauthor writes so well that you forget you’re reading! I could almost believe I was part of the storyline. And it’s been a while since a book made me feel that way!
This was my first time reading one of her books and I’m sure I’ll be reading a lot more of her works soon!
