Overall, I liked this book. There were parts that I found predictable and I found some parts repetitive.

A dark and gritty read from the outset, The attention to detail is almost on a microscopic level but written in a way that anyone can pick it up and run. Disturbingly real and with more twists than a box of cabled headphones. A must read for all crime and whodunnit fans around the world. This was my very first exploration into the worlds of Karin Slaughter and i can tell you now i'm going back for more.

4.5 rounded up. I’m really liking this series now!

The subject matter in this book was difficult to read at times because of the evil, horrible nature of the crimes. I pray no woman has ever had to endure that. While the crimes were a whole new level of heinous, Slaughter was very respectful in her writing and towards the victims.

The story itself was awesome! I love Will Trent! I was totally wrong on who the unsub was! I love it when an author really tricks me, although after it was revealed I realized all the clues she planted that I completely missed! I can't wait for the next book!!

I liked it but probably should have read the rest of the series first. Definitely missing some back story if the main characters

4.5. I guessed pretty quickly who the killer was, though there were a few red herrings that made me second guess myself. It was so great to be back in Grant County with Jeffrey! Even though that meant more Lena. I still hate her with a passion. I was so glad for the author’s note with Karin confirming the series will continue. I was really worried this was going to be the last!

A totally random note: if you listen to the audiobook, Sautee is pronounced saw-tee not sawdy like Kathleen Early says. I live there and that drove me crazy, lol. She’s still my favorite narrator, though!
