The Silent Wife by Karin Slaughter is #10 in the Will Trent series. I love to read this series through the audio version, the narrator perfectly times her inflictions for each character-- it adds so much more to the book. Kathleen Early is such a good narrator.
Will and Sara, I can say that Jeffery's demise upset me so much--there were 4 Will Trent books out before I gave the series a chance. Will is such a sweet but tortured soul--he is perfect for Sara, though I an not certain she is perfect for him. This is a great addition to the series! I like the working relationship as much as their personal one. So good to keep up with Amanda and Faith ,too.

It was a good book. I just hate brutal rapes and stuff to women

While her storylines are good, I'm glad that this was the last book in this series (at least right now it is), because I've had enough. I like the characters, especially Will, Sarah, & Faith, which is why I've continued to read these books. But, I feel like each book in this series got more and more graphic. I average about 50-60 books a year, and 90% are murder mystery, so I'm used to the genre, but I feel like the author went unnecessarily far with some of her gory descriptions and they distracted from the storyline instead of enhancing it. Maybe it means she is good at writing if she has such explicit details that I was so grossed out, but honestly, it's turned me off to a point that if she writes another book in this series, I will not read it.

I prefer Karin Slaughter’s work when she’s writing from the perspective of an “average joe” rather than a detective or the police. Reading from an investigator’s perspective feels one step further away from the action and makes it more difficult for me to feel a connection with the characters. I think because I felt less invested in the characters I may have missed a few details and therefore felt like there were a few loose ends when I finished the book.

All that said - this was almost everything I’d expect from one of these novels. It kept me up at night and after the halfway point it was a true page turner.

Intense but full of humanity. Slaughter is one of my favorites, and amazingly, she just keeps getting better. Back into the stories of Sara Linton and Will Trent with an eight-year time jump that includes flashbacks.

I can literally only explain in adjectives; action packed, mysterious, insightful, intelligent, humorous, outstanding, touching, courageous, thoroughly researched ( believe me I could continue!). If you have never tried Karin Slaughter, where have you been?!
