y’all know i looooove slaughter. her books are so grisly and are usually difficult to put down. i kept going back and forth with this one. i am so so so so so happy will and sara are finally getting married! i have been rooting for them from the beginning. also wtfffffff re: brock. did NOT see that coming and want to reread the series to see if there are any clues this was coming.
i think i’m tired of the same repetitive descriptions (amanda’s always on her phone, etc.). i’ll give this one a 3.5 but will obviously be devoted to ks forever.
wondering if i should watch the will trent series??!

I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. Thanks to NetGalley and HarperCollins Publishers.
Karin Slaughter is one of my favorite authors, so I was so excited to be able to review this book. It was great!
First, a trigger warning. This book deals heavily with sexual violence and violence against women. I commend the author for writing about difficult issues and giving proper attention to the life long scars carried by so many women.
I think this may be my favorite of all the Sara Linton books ---- why? Because we went back to Grant County in flashbacks! The case is an old case that Jeffrey Tolliver (former Police Chief, former husband of Sara Linton, deceased) had worked on 8 years ago (*note - for followers of the series, Slaughter addresses the crazy timeline in the author's note at the end*). Will, Faith, Sara, and the rest of the GBI team work together to uncover the truth about what happened 8 years ago in Grant County and solve a string of murders.
This was really a great book - I couldn't put it down. While it is not necessary to have read all of the series books in order, I do recommend reading some Grant Grant County and Will Trent books before this one, just because it makes the story that much better.

3.5. Come on Karin, it’s time to get Will into dyslexia therapy and counseling. He’s almost mute, although he talked more in this book than any other.
The plot was actually really compelling but Jeffery Tolliver sucks lmao really questioning Sarah’s judgment on that one!!
This book was great. I’ve loved the whole series, love this authors, writing, at the audible library. It was pretty good. I look forward to the next book in the series.
Enjoyed!! I always love her books on Audible!! Narrator is perfect!! Story was gripping!! This one ticked all the thriller boxes for my taste!

"Toddlers are like the worst inmates. When they're not lying to your face and tearing up your shit, they're napping, pooping, or trying to think of different ways to fuck with you." Lol!
Disturbing and, at times, hard to listen to, yet impossible to stop listening.

As someone who absolutely adores a good thriller, Karin Slaughter is a name I've seen come up again and again, but I've never actually picked up one of her books. When I saw The Silent Wife on NetGalley, I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to give one a go! What I didn't realise going into this, was that this book is a part of a long-running series of detective/crime novels, that I had no idea even existed! So when I started reading, I quickly realised that this would not be the thriller I was anticipating, and it took me a while to get into, but that's entirely my own fault.
However, once I did get into it, I ended up enjoying it a lot more than I expected. The plot gripped me and kept me guessing up until the very end, and I fell in love with the characters and their relationships. The writing was definitely a lot more gory and graphic than I'm used to, so take that into consideration if that's something you're not into. I enjoyed the multiple perspectives we got throughout the book, as well as the dual timeline which I thought worked really well. It was definitely a bit slow for me at times, and as I said it took a while to get going, but it was still a solid read! I'll definitely be checking out more Karin Slaughter in the future!
Thank you to Harper Collins UK & NetGalley for sending me this ARC
