This one actually kept me guessing until the end but I WISH the ending was dragged out a little bit more. It was so much build-up for an ending that occurred in a single chapter.
re-listen 01/2024 - same rating!

I bought the audiobook the day it was released. Yet, I waited over 6 months to finally listen to it. Why do I do these things to myself?? Mostly because I love the series and liked knowing there was more, in hand, vs wanting more and there being none. I know, I'm really weird. Well, what I can say is that it was totally worth the wait.
Things I loved:
- Actually, a little of the "shine" was removed off of the memory of Jeffrey. Not for Sara, but for the reader. Sara forgave him for past transgressions, but I appreciated getting a little behind the scenes in this aspect of their relationship.
- Everything Will. I love getting his POV - whether it be while working crimes or in his thinking about Sara. I always want to reach out and give him a much needed hug.
- The gentleness in the relationship between Will and Sara. They are real. They might still have some communication issues, but I can appreciate the care they always take with each other's feelings.
- Awesome narration!
- Karin's writing. But I think this in very one of her books that I read or listen to.
Meh things:
- I did sort of figure out who the baddie was a little earlier on then is let on in the book. Or at least suspected. But... I don't care since the writing is just so good. I guess this one isn't really a "meh" thing afterall!
More. I just want more.

3.5 stars
I was waiting so long for the title of the book to connect to the story. It was not what I thought it would be.
I enjoyed this, as I enjoy all the novels in this world, but I felt like the ending was too rushed. Also the (probable?) missing text in chapter 26 was sort of annoying, and I feel like I was robbed of some clues.
Still, this book had me hooked for two days when I haven't been able to get into any other book for a long time. Yay!

Okay so I didn’t really read reviews before hand because I wanted the full shock factor but when I saw Jeffrey’s name, I just about lost it. Imagining the worst like witness protection and Will’s heart breaking. I was wrong. I don’t want to spoil it for anyone so it’s not worst case but it’s shocking. Enjoy! Please please please right more ASAP! This is the first time I’ve been fully caught up on the series!
Book 10 of the Will Trent series is truly a masterpiece! It’s definitely one of my faves! This a good way to bring up Sarah’s past from Grant county again if you haven’t read that series yet. This one is very emotional and contains graphic mentions of sa.
I liked the way Jeffrey and Sarah’s history was portrayed. This case helped make sense of what kind of person Jeffrey was. I still have no sympathy for Lena. I loved that to premise of this case was a case from years ago where it all went wrong and now more women are dead.
Again flawless transitions between timelines. I couldn’t even decide which case was my favorite (now or 8 yrs ago). I loved that this story was about a serial killer. One thing I love about this series is that each book is about a different type of crime, but includes crimes against women. If I had to pick a favorite part, it would have to be all of the autopsy scenes!
Just the last book remains (and I’m already almost halfway through it)! Hopefully we get more of Will, Sarah, Faith and Amanda. May she never switch narrators, Kathleen Early is amazing! If you like thrillers Karin Slaughter is a must, if not the GOAT!
