I've waited a while to get hold of this book and when I strared and found that is was another Lena involved shit storm I stopped reading. I effectively shoved my fingers in my ears and shouted la-la-la.
I have a long and well-documented hatred of Lena. More specifically with her being used as a plot device to add 'tension' in every book in this long series.
Two reasons I gave it a second chance. 1. I have waited for months to get a copy. 2. I love Will.
I am glad that I did pick it back up because I thoroughly enjoyed it. It was violet and uncomfortable to read, but there were flashes of humour and I felt that Will and Sara really took steps forward. I loved Gina, let's replace Lena with Gina.
I worked out the bad guy early on but it didn't ruin the journey to the reveal.
I quite liked the past vs present story telling because it meant we followed the original investigations without regurgitated monologues from case files etc. Knowing more about Jeffrey has just made me wonder why he is on such a pedestal. The bloke was an unrepentant cheater. He was an ass. A liar. A butt faced miscreant.
For such a huge book I read it across just a couple of days and was totally hooked.

This is the 10th book in the Will Trent series and to say I have DEVOURED these books would be an understatement! I have binged this series in the last week and I was SO happy to receive the newest edition as an eARC from Netgalley

4 stars on initial read, 3.5 on reread just because I genuinely don't want to hear more about Jeffery. The twist was obviously insane but having to hear about/from Jeffery irritates me.
Karin Slaughter is phenomenal!! Her 20th book and I believe this to be the most tormenting book she has written. Is was simply amazing.
This book is in her series about Will Trent; however, this book bridges so many gaps from the Grant County series that anyone could pick it up and be in love with it. For those fans of her Grant County Series that didn’t choose to follow Will Trent (why?), this is a DO NOT MISS book for you!
Talk about a blast from the past as the Will Trent investigates a possible serial killer that began back when the infamous Jeffery from Grant County started the initial investigation and thought he had captured the right person. The evidence has begun to show that similar patterns have appeared and maybe the wrong guy was locked up and the real killer is walking free. Sara’s duties as the coroner has never been so important than now, if they will be able to figure out who is bringing these women harm.
Look out for an explosive ending that you will NEVER see coming!!!
Thank you so much to @williammorrow and @karinslaughterauthor for providing me with this ARC copy of The Silent Wife in return of my honest review!

Karin!!!! KARIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It's well established by now that this is probably my favorite book series, but The Silent Wife is exceptionally brilliant. Besides the fact that the case at the heart of the book is brutal, terrifying, and beyond all disgusting, the reveal at the end actually made me whisper a soft "nooooo" to myself. I guess I just want to see the best in people!
I haven't read the Grant County series because, this far into reading the Will Trent series, it's pretty daunting to think about going back in time and retreading the ground I know now. I actually really ended up enjoying the crossover here despite this, and despite how ugly I find Jeffrey Tolliver to be (ladies, I get it - nobody knows your relationship like you do. Period. But please do not REmarry a man who cheated on you with 6+ women. I don't CARE if he changed!!!!!).
Also, as a child I was super into VH1 reality dating shows. I still do a biannual rewatch of at least Rock of Love. Come for Will Trent, stay for the Mo'Nique Charm School reference.
