I had to DNF at about 20% in. It’s not a bad book- it just didn’t hold my attention. Wasn’t my cup of tea.

Presley fucking West. Sigh. What have you done to me?! I adore rockstar romance, it makes me feel connected to music in a whole different way. You get to see behind the scenes, the nitty gritty realness, the dirt. This was no exception, I floved it!
I love feeling like I’m reading about real people and Vicki is one of the best at this. She has a gift for words, for feeding the soul with lyrical genius that leaves a feeling of being part of her stories. Of being invested in the characters and their lives. Once you finish a book of hers you take a part of it with you wherever you go, and this one was no different.
People make mistakes, they make rash decisions and sometimes come to regret it, Presley and Tess are prime examples of this. Being young and in love makes our emotions spin out all over the place. Young love is passionate, exciting, but it can also be a scary place to delve into, especially when fame is involved and it feels like you’re not the only two people in the relationship. But when push comes to shove you have to listen to your heart, feel who it’s beating in tandem for, and for Presley West, only Tessa’s heart beat to the rhythm of his.
A huge 10 stars from this YGW fan!

I have just one word for this book....Breathtaking!

From the start to the end this book has you captured, tugging at your heartstrings, waiting for something to go wrong, feeling their happiness and pain, this is an epic love story between a rock star drummer and the girl he always knew he loved even before he was famous, the girl that told him to go and follow his dreams, even though it was breaking her heart to do so...

Tessa and Presley were meant to be together, meant to love fiercely forever, just meant to be!

Along with the main character, the supporting characters were fantastic, the band, Tessa's friends all played their part in this being a beautiful story.

If you read nothing else you must read this story, it's well written, has you turning the pages to read more, one of the best books I have read this year, loved it! it deserves more than 5 stars!

I liked parts of this book, and felt that Tessa and Presley were flushed out characters, but I honestly had a hard time connecting with them. Both were vapid to a certain extent and fake.

I usually don't read Rock Star books cause I find the lifestyle in general not conductive to real life romance, but tried this one out based on reviews of the female MC. I did really like her and felt her insecurities were valid, but were often treated as a character fault rather then being valid. Let's face it Presley was fucking a lot of the women he met. I mean who wouldn't be insecure.

My beef with these stories is the female characters are rarely granted the same latitude regarding sex as just sex. They don't fuck hundreds of guys and shrug it off as just something to blow off steam. Presley acts all 'well humans fuck' but I wonder how nonchalant he would be if Tessa went fucking through the local male sports teams while he was gone. Lord knows we never see that in a book. That never happened here, far as I can tell he ruined her for others. Jesus what a fucking disgusting cliche that is. And don't get me started on her not making him wrap it up when they have sex. Christ. He's fucking groupies who are fucking other 'stars' and lord knows how many partners they have had. It's insulting to not consider the fact that he probably has something. Most people do in general. I was literally gagging when she told him not to worry about it. Ugh.

And then it's her fault for hurting him when he's been fucking lying to her for months. On second thought that bumps this down to two stars. He left, she didn't drive him away, he left. It's never someone else's burden to give someone a reason to stay with them. The more I write this review the more I realize what a shit show this was. Two stars it is. Barely.

Wow!! What a great book, this had me always wanting to read more and yet st the same time not wanting it to end. I loved Tessa, she was bloody hilarious! I loved that she was a say it how it is kinda lass and that she didn’t let certain things change her, she was true to herself from beginning to end. And who could not love the resident sex god that is Presley West???

Without a doubt this is one of the best rock star books around!

Here I sit, once again... Struggling to put into words how amazing this book was. I have actually been sitting on this review for a few days trying to put together a review that will do this justice... But no words can. Seriously NO WORDS.

Ms. James goes above and beyond and gives us a storyline so captivating, enticing and addictive that I couldn't put the book down and managed to read it in one sitting.

In Cherry Beats we have Presley and Tess and oh boy, what a pair these two are. Presley was... different. He wasn't your typical hero in this book. He was lonely, he was stuck and lost yet he has people surrounding him day in and day out... But what looks like a life of fun, pleasure, and dreams is a life of loneliness and sadness for this man. My heart hurt for this man and I couldn't help but fall smitten for him from the moment I began this book. He was unique and amazing in every sense of the word.

Tess was perfection, especially for Presley. She was full of sass, a little spitfire and even though some of the things she did and said were questionable and not exactly /Perfect/, she was still just a lovable, witty, fun characters and I think what others may see as flaws, I see as quirks, and things that make her a perfect heroine. I adored her and I honestly cannot fault the author on how she played this main female lead out.

Presley and Tess were something else... They were perfect for each other and both personalities together balanced each other out, yet they bounced off each other. It was known early that these two were perfect for each other and that they both loved and wanted each other, and needed each other... But secrets and lies constantly pushed them apart. Hiding feelings and denying each other what they truly wanted, craved and needed. Tess didn't feel worthy, she didn't feel like she was enough, and Presley wanted her, he needed her.. but the insecurities Tess has do make it hard for him and it ultimately creates more and more issues with these two...

Will Tess be able to see she is worthy? Will Presley be able to show her that she is? Is Tess the answer to his loneliness? Will these two finally open their eyes and see they are meant to be...

You need to read the book to find out...
I honestly cannot fault this story. There were a few aspects to it that hit home for me a little but I think that is why I loved it so much. It was full of angst, and chemistry that flowed throughout the book.

Truly amazing, captivating, addictive and an enticing read that I highly recommend!

Honestly, he deserved better. He was straight up with her on what he wanted for them and he did nothing to maker her doubt, just continuously proved his words true. Also literally none of their issues were addressed, just casually dismissed in order to wrap up the story and deliver them the HEA
