Not gonna lie. This review won't be very long.

There was nothing spectacular about this novella. Honestly, if it weren't written it wouldn't have made much of a difference. I honestly wish that Queen song was longer. Again. I didn't hate this, but it just wasn't really much for me to keep me deeply engaged. I love Shade down real bad so I will have to jump into the next book in this series soon

I'm just not a huge fan of Farley.

I didn't remember who Farley was or what part she played in Red Queen when going into this so that wasn't a good start, but nevertheless I didn't feel this added anything to the series for me.

I definitely liked this one a lot more than Queen Song! I love Farley, and reading this little bit of her life just made her even better to me. and I also really enjoyed seeing Mare's brother more! Makes me even more excited for Glass Sword!

This novella can be accurately described as an overpriced bundle of boredom. Dnf at less than 50%. I have no idea why I thought this would be better than Queen Song.

You won't miss anything by skipping this novella. It's probably only worth it if Farley is your favorite character. I read along with the Broken Throne audio and holy shit the Scarlet Guard messages were repetitive and annoying. I also don't understand why Farley is narrated with a British accent when she's canonically from the Midwest, specifically the Wisconsin/Minnesota area. This was so not worth it!

I liked this better than the other novella...probably because I knew the main character wasn't destined to be murdered. I thought, unlike the other novella, this one provided background info that is useful for better understanding the series as a whole.
