This was such a cozy, holiday whodunit mystery read and I loved it! It super quick in pace and short enough that you can binge it in one day or even one sitting.
I enjoyed the FMC. She was witty, smart, sharp and cunning. Her and Mrs.Thewley were quite the dynamic duo and so fun to read. I definitely got some Agatha Christie vibes from this and I'm not mad about it at all.
The mystery, the murder, the everyone is a suspect I absolutely devoured and couldn't look away from it.
The locked door trope has always been a favorite of mine and this book does it justice. I highly recommend it!
Thank you to Netgalley, Random House UK and the author for my eARC copy of this book. All opinions are 100% my own.

This book really gives off Agatha Christie vibes and I thought it was okay. I did struggle to get into the story at the beginning. The characters were introduced at breakneck speed and the beginning felt drawn out. It was only when the murder took place that the story finally kicked in a bit. There was mostly a lot of talking and little detective work. And how are these people not more shocked when someone is murdered right next to them! Daphne is an interesting character though and it's fun to follow her and Mrs Thewley in their investigation.
2.5 rounded up. Just ok. Wanted more everything, but especially more Christmas / winter ambience.

Very slow read as it only really got interesting in the last 100 pages sadly.
What do you do when playing Murder In The Dark results in an actual murder? When it happens at a haunted house, and the police don't seem to think it's murder, two amateur sleuths decide to investigate.
This was a fun Christmas Mystery read, resplendent with great characters and sound story telling. Just what was needed on Boxing Day.
