This book is breaks your heart so much in the beginning, Alvie and Stanley have had their share of difficult moments throughout their childhood. They act so mature, that it's hard to believe Alvie is only 17 and Stanley is 19. They both knew they were broken and didn't realize how important their friendship would be. They both had to learn that they are not to blame for the actions of their parents. They learned to be less stubborn with each other and to help each other through the bad times. I was nervous through out the book because if they didn't handle the relationship right, they would cause themselves more pain. But they cared for each other, even when it was difficult to do so.

It's a great book!

I read this a couple of months ago and hardly remember it. I remember autism and the main character working at a zoo, and that is literally it.

one of the best teen romance book i've read. at first reading books about a main character with a illness can make me uncomfortable however the book wasnt a problem AT ALL. the plot might be a little slow but that was never an issue for me. overall the plot  is so intelligent and the relationship surrounding the two characters is so much deeper than i expected. i got so attached to the characters. this book really stuck with me, after all i read it multiple times. 20/10 MY COMFORT READ

Very touching story about intimacy, borders & how to let people in.

As a lover of Watership Down, I knew from the title that this was gonna make me sad. And it totally did, but it was so worth it! I adored Alvie and Stanley, and their exploration of life and love was authentic, emotional and raw. Steiger has created two interesting, diverse and well-rounded characters with challenges and personalities completely different from each other, and afforded them both the space to develop over the course of the novel. There’s just enough intrigue in the story that I was desperate to know what happened, but I was glad that it was more of an exploration of two teenagers navigating their lives and falling in love, rather than a thrilling mystery. Would definitely recommend, 14+ for sexy times.

This was a book I had never heard of before. I found it on Goodreads to fulfill a Facebook Bingo Prompt. Upon reading the description I knew my heartstrings were going to be pulled.

I'm familiar with autism but this book is written completely in the mindset of Alvie. Her abruptness and straightforwardness are refreshing, even though it can be very uncomfortable. I hated reading about how she was treated at her job at the zoo. When she's fired and disconnects from Stanley, she hits a low point that was hard to read. I would have been better off breaking this up into parts, rather than the binge that I did. This is definitely a book I would recommend to anyone needing to understand how autism works, or anyone needing to see through the eyes of someone with autism.

I just didn’t vibe with this. I kept bouncing between really liking it and just getting weird vibes from it. I’m not really sure. I think it was just a bit too “new adult” for me. I just couldn’t relate I guess.
