There are so many passages of this novel that I will remember for a long time—
Anna’s death, Levin’s philosophy, Karenin’s love of the baby.
The novel took more time to finish than I had thought, but the pace really forced me to get to know these characters in a slow, methodical way, which caused the ending to strike me far more than if I had burned through it.

Impeccable writing. An amazing description of old aristocratic Russian society, loved all the characters involved. Although, as amazing as it is being a classic, it was hard to finish. I really loved how even though the book is named Anna Karenina, it depicted the detailed lives of so many others characters apart from Anna. Some characters had more depiction than Anna herself. It was great, but I would not look forward to re-reading it.

The translation was awful. The famous opening line, which typically reads to the effect of "all happy families are alike. Every unhappy family is unhappy in its own unique way." Instead it omitted the word happy and made no sense. I felt the risk of there being other mistranslations resulting in a total loss of meaning was too great.
