The novel held my attention until the morally reprehensible bs toward the end re: raising disabled kids and, essentially, that they’re a drain on society + parents and better off not being alive. This one scene I’m referring to was so horrible I couldn’t get past it the rest of the book.

This book started really well and the concept is cool, BUT plot twists that rely on first person pov character witholding info from the reader are just dissapointing.

Read it quite quickly and was interested in what was going to happen, but sometimes I felt like it tried to do too much. I don’t think there is one character in there that is healthy, there are many twists and some of them make sense and are good, but others felt unnecessary. Still enjoyed it overall, so 3 stars from me

What I at first suspected was an overused plot line became increasingly interesting as it unfolded with more twists and turns than I ever saw coming, complex and unpredictable characters, and challenging moral questions along the way.

An interesting premise for a thriller but overall didn’t love it as much as I hoped. The writing style between the past and present created an interesting narrative in comparing the previous tenant with the current day tenant which I did enjoy and it was a quick easy read.

Whilst it has started of quite gripping and quick in setting up plot, I had hoped the house itself would play a huge part in the outcome of the story or influencing the plot but really it became secondary to the characters themselves and felt just a setting which didn’t really do anything special.

I didn’t really care about any of the characters fully and did feel like that whilst the attempt was made lead the read astray for a ‘who dunnit’ and felt a bit predictable in the end.

Murder mystery solved by the common person, with classic misdirection and a tad bit of smut. Not sure why it would be compared to Gone Girl or Girl on a Train. It’s a quick read.

Oh, also not cool with the mention of Downs Syndrome being a marker of an “unhealthy baby.”

It’s women written from a man’s perspective.
